Temporarily Graduation Advising Students with last names starting with R.
I became an advisor because:
I worked as a supplemental instructor and tutor when I was an undergrad, and I was a graduate assistant while pursuing my master’s. Both were very rewarding, and I discovered that I enjoy working with students and hearing about the things they are pursuing and wanting to do with their lives. Plus, I really enjoy the experience of being on a college campus.
My favorite KU memory is:
My first KU basketball game. I’ve been to all kinds of sporting events, but nothing like this! The energy was completely indescribable, and the Rock Chalk chant literally gave me goose bumps.
Advice to college students:
Follow your passions. Don't let the lure of a big paycheck be the sole reason you choose a major. Oftentimes, what you plan out in college doesn’t end up being the path your life takes. Besides, the money doesn’t mean a thing if you’re not happy.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
I’m a big fan of crossing items off one’s bucket list – after all, that’s what it’s for! – so mine is perpetually changing as I take on new things. Next up for me, I’m thinking that I’d like to try a duathlon (running and biking) at some point.
