What did you want to be when you were growing up?
An astronaut. As a kid I grew up in rural central Kansas and could always see the stars at night. It was such a wonderful sight that I wanted to get closer to them!
My favorite place on campus is…
The Spencer Art Museum. It’s such a peaceful spot on a busy campus and it’s always good to be surrounded by great art and reflect on it all.
My favorite book:
Probably changes every time I’m asked but the two I always think about are Wendell Berry’s “Jayber Crow” and Marilynne Robinson’s “Gilead”
Advice to college students:
Try to go to your professor’s office hours at least once. It is never a waste of time and often can mean all the difference in how you approach the class and do the work. Plus it shows that you care about the course.
