Advice to college students:
Build a bit of slowness and quiet into your week, or better yet, each day. Call it your peace, or call it “necessary loafing”: find it, and be all there. It’s the opposite of what we’re conditioned to do, but it’s necessary for learning, exploration, and all the brilliance you came here to enjoy. You’ll hear the wisdom of others best with an uncluttered mind.

Favorite Place on Campus:
the Spencer Research Library and standing among all the mysteries that it holds.

Favorite Quote(s):
It’s a tie:
“Man, sometimes it takes a long time to sound like yourself.” – Miles Davis
“Never put off ‘til tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well.” – Mark Twain

Favorite TV Show:
The Simpsons. There was no greater, wittier show from 1989 to 1999: I challenge you to contest this. My runner-up favorite is The Kids in the Hall.
