Readmission to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

All former KU students (those who have completed at least one hour of credit) must submit a readmission application if they did not attend for at least one full fall or spring semester.  Students with a KU Cumulative GPA less than a 2.00 are required to apply at least two weeks prior to classes starting.

Applications for readmission for domestic students are handled by the Office of Admissions.

Applications for readmission for International Students are available through International Undergraduate Admissions, 785-864-2616, 45 Strong Hall. Application deadlines for international students may vary, so please plan on applying early.

All students are encouraged to meet with an advisor prior to enrolling and submit all transcripts for coursework you may have taken while you were away from KU. If you have questions regarding your transfer work you should check the credit transfer page on admissions.

Readmission after Dismissal Policy

Undergraduate students who have been dismissed or meet the College’s policy for dismissal are subject to this policy if applying for readmission into the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  Students can be readmitted back to KU after a first and a second dismissal but they must complete their readmission requirements.

First Dismissal: Sit out one fall or spring semester, complete at least one 3 credit course transferable to KU Core 34 Goals, earn a 2.50 GPA in all courses taken since dismissal

Second Dismissal: Sit out one academic year, complete at least one 3 credit course transferable to KU Core 34 Goals, earn a 2.50 GPA in all courses taken since dismissal

Third Dismissal:  A third dismissal is final

If all requirements for the KU Core 34 goals are completed, no coursework is required.  Students returning after an academic dismissal will be readmitted on probation and must meet their required term GPA requirements to avoid another dismissal.
